At Edison teachers and students have a shared vision that every child is capable of success, no exceptions. Part of the Tacoma Whole Child Initiative, Edison in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and the University of Washington Tacoma receives support, guidance and tools to help every student reach their potential. In third through fifth grades, Edison uses a common literacy model in grade level book clubs and cross-grade reading buddies. In K-5, students participate in daily writer's workshops. Edison offers the five-day a week Highly Capable GATE program in grades three, four and five, with third and fourth graders together in a multi-age classroom.
